  52. This  book  is  a  reference  manual  for  the  OWL Personal Portfolio 
  53. Manager.   As  the name implies, the system is intended primarily as a 
  54. tool  to  assist  individual  investors  in  tracking,  managing,  and 
  55. analyzing  their  personal  investments  and  finances.  It is ideally 
  56. suited  for  small to moderate investors who either own or have access 
  57. to  a  personal  computer.   The  software features a menu driven user 
  58. interface  which  eliminates  the  need  to learn commands or memorize 
  59. function  keys.   Extensive  error checking within the system makes it 
  60. difficult to enter bad data.

  62. The OWL Personal Portfolio Manager allows you to:

  64.      Maintain  a  permanent  record of security transactions including 
  65.      purchases, sales, and dividends received.

  67.      Maintain  a permanent record of your other assets and liabilities 
  68.      including  bank  accounts,  home  equity,  loans due and payable,

  71.      Quickly  rank  your  securities in terms of total annualized rate

  92. Because  it  is  the intention that the OWL Personal Portfolio Manager 
  93. will  provide  you with many years of service, it has been designed as 
  94. tax  neutral.   With  the  exception  of  using  a  first-in-first-out 
  95. accounting   method   which   may   be  overridden  if  necessary,  no 
  96. assumptions  have  been  made  about tax reporting requirements.  This 
  97. means  that  dividend and capital gains/losses reports can be tailored
  98. by the user to reflect the laws currently in effect.
